Rather than writing a big long post on what the season of Lent represents, the history behind it, etc., etc. I decided to just share with you some links that I find refreshing, informative and thoughtful. To each of you, have a blessed Lent!
From Women for Faith & Family - a broad variety of information on Ash Wednesday, Fasting and Abstaining, and even some food-related traditions you could incorporate in your family's Lenten season
From Creighton's website - Praying Lent 2008 (I so enjoyed their prayers during Advent and look forward to using this resource during Lent)
From Texas A&M's pastoral team's blog "Aggie Catholics" a great FAQ on Lent - I even learned a lot from this post!
The Pope's 2008 Message for Lent - focusing on giving
Some great prayers on Elizabeth's site and she also has a great article on Catholic Exchange
And this year I am focusing on incorporating some of the traditions from "The Catholic Home; Celebrations and Traditions for Holidays, Feast Days and Every Day" by Meredith Gould, and then I googled her and found that she also blogs! Woo Hoo! I'll be keeping my eye over there from time to time! This season I'll be baking hot cross buns on Good Friday and snacking on pretzels (which LL loves to use as a teether).
God Bless you in this season!
